On Thursday May 6, the Netherlands Atlantic Association will organize a program themed: Great Expectations? The UK’s foreign and security strategy in the post-Brexit era and the implications for the transatlantic relationship.
Last month the British government published a policy paper, entitled ‘Global Britain in a Competitive Age’. This integrated review lays out a vision for the UK’s role in the world over the next decade.
Since the UK will remain an indispensable partner in defense and security affairs for the Netherlands and the European Union, now is a good time to assess the strategic analysis and the vision of the policy paper. Three speakers will discuss the paper’s content from different angles.
Jamie Shea will outline the paper’s background and discuss the post-Brexit state of affairs. Ian Lesser will look at the strategy’s implications for the transatlantic relationship. Rem Korteweg will comment on what it all means for the EU and the Netherlands. The program will be moderated by Paul Brill.
This program will be streamed live on Youtube and Facebook. The meeting starts 16.00 hrs. (Central European Time) and will approximately last for one hour. It is possible to share your questions beforehand on the registration form. After registration you will receive a confirmation by email. A streaming link will follow later. Be sure to check your spambox for this link.
